Apologies for lack of activity on here of late, have been pre-occupied with the day job, the one which actually pays the bills!

After the absence this is a nice post to kick off with these great shots from Carlos Araújo who emailed me these along with this message:

I really like your blog, I am following it all the time.

I am sending you a photo of my little babe. Maybe one of these days I can forward you a proper photo session ;)

Keep up the good work.

Cheers from Portugal.

Thanks Carlos, nice work & cool Ruby helmet you're wearing there too!

Obrigado - Paul ; )

'67 Vespa Super Sport 180 unearthed

Came across these images of this lovely 1967 SS180 still in it's original Monza red paint on Scuderia Vespa Svedese. Blog writer, Seagrove has just purchased this scooter & am pleased to see he will be keeping her all original; just sorting the mechanicals to get her running well.

Awesome shot from Raul Abio aka Only Vespas - all rights reserved.

I really like the composition in this one & the way Raul has got the horizon & skyline in.... excellent work!!

Think I'm right in saying these shots are of guys getting in some practice at the Zuera International Circuit (Zaragoza), for the upcoming Vespa the Resistance taking place very soon on 25-26th May.

Check out Raul's full set of shots here on his Flickr photostream.

Raul - muchas gracias for letting me blog this ; )

I belatedly picked up a copy of Scootering magazine today & have been perusing it over my wet London lunch hour.

I got it mainly for the article on BSG, the Italian engine tuning trio comprising of Fabio Begani, Stefano Scauri & Alessandro Graiani. It makes for a very interesting read.

As you can see from the series of 35mm film shots above, I was fortunate enough to witness Signore Scauri revving the 'bejesus' out of their bright yellow smallframe on the Dyno at SIP Scootershop's customhow in April. The resulting engine noise was incredible & isn't done justice by my pics but you can see the reaction of a couple of guys in the background with hands clamped to their ears..!

Alessandro administers BSG's vespa website which also includes a forum. May's issue of Scootering is still on sale, so get it while you can.

The full set of fotos I took at SIP's customshow can be seen here FB page here -

Jay J's '74 Rally

IMG_3648 by Swanoji

Very nice capture of Jay J's 1974 Rally 200, taken in Seoul, South Korea.

Nice effect with choice of background, natural lighting & colours...

S.I.P. Scootershop recently gave away this lovely original paint Vespa 50 Special completely free; all that was required was to fill in their online customer survey after ordering SIP parts.

Sadly for me my luck wasn't in but it was for Corinna from Essen.

Re-blogged from S.I.P. Scootershop:

Just in time for a belated beginning of spring, Corinna (from Essen) recently had a special reason for joy: She is the happy new owner of the 50cc Vespa we raffled off. "I can't believe it", she chuckled at the handing over, "I never won anything in my life. And now such a fantastic prize. I have been looking for a Vespa for months now and I couldn't have chosen a more beautiful one". So far only enthusiastic pillion rider, Corinna is now bound to discover her very own world on two wheels. Enjoy your new hobby and always ride safely!

Some shots I took the other day at Retrospective Scooters in Hornsey, London, N8. Taken with my Olympus OM-2N manual SLR on Kodak Portra 400 35mm film.

Too late for the recently finished RETROSPECTIVE SCOOTERS book, maybe for inclusion in Volume II...
